Rupert Murdoch

I keep reading news reports comparing the Rupert Murdoch phone hacking scandal to a Shakespearean tragedy.  Actually, some say it IS like a Shakespearean tragedy because it involves both familial and political interconnections, while others say it is NOT like a Shakespearean tragedy because Murdoch isn’t sympathetic at all, and some even say the scandal is like Shakespeare, Harry Potter, Charles Dickens, and J.R. Tolkien all at once!  Phew!  I’ve included some of the links so you can decide for yourself.

Rod Blagojevich

Rod Blagojevich was convicted on 17 of 20 counts in his retrial yesterday.  They say he was “stunned.”  I imagine he is still more concerned with himself and with his reputation, than with what he did (or didn’t do for) the state of Illinois.  Uch.

Annoying Colleague

I have a colleague at work who fits this description to a tee.  He drives me up the wall and last night over dinner my husband had to remind me that there are people like this everywhere – so get over it.  Do you have a colleague/neighbor/family member who drives you up the wall?  Do you wish sometimes you could give them the perfect insult?  See how Shakespeare would have done it at the Shakespearean Insulter:
