There are so many bloody conflicts ongoing in the world right now – Syria, Iraq, Sunnis/Shiites, Israelis/Palestinians, … – that it is worth remembering the above quote.

I thought about saying this was one of the world’s problems, but the more I thought about it, so many of the others derive from folly and ignorance that I’ll keep it singular. I imagine it’s part of the reason I became a teacher.

I think Nicholas Kristof got it right when he said, “…this is a war in which both peoples have a considerable amount of right on their sides.” Unfortunately, that doesn’t help any in solving it.

I’ve just returned from vacation and boy did the time go fast. I can’t believe how much happened in the world while I was gone (but more on that later)! Now it’s back to work and, I imagine, time returning to normal.

I love my house to death, but we’re thinking of selling it to move into a better school district for my son. Our real estate agent came by and pointed out all the things that are wrong with our house. *sigh* It was difficult to hear such criticism, however true!

Today we celebrate my son’s 4th birthday. We’ve got balloons to get, a cake to pick up, presents still to be wrapped. This is so exciting! And yet rather nerve-wracking too. Ah!
