“O, what may [child] within him hide, though angel on the outward side!” – Measure for Measure
My beautiful child has definitely entered the terrible twos. He runs off towards the street and won’t stop when you yell after him. He says he’s eaten his chewable vitamins, but I find them licked and stuck on the underside of tables. He throws his books down and when I say that makes me sad he throws them harder and asks eagerly “Is Mommy sad?” Sigh. What’s a mother to do??

For my kids, giving them time to grow out of the behavior with loss of privilege, but no special attention paid to any behavior that wasn’t specifically dangerous seemed to work. Extra attention to when they did what they were supposed to also helped, but less than I thought it would. Of course, each one is different so I wouldn’t call that approach a panacea. Best of luck.

Thanks for the thoughts. Indeed, I do ask people whom I know have kids what their techniques are… but everyone seems to do something different!?! As you say, kids are different…
