“O wonderful son, that can so astonish a mother!” – Hamlet

This holiday season was the first time many of my relatives got a chance to meet my newly adopted son.  And it went swimmingly!  My baby was friendly and cute and playful the entire time, even with all the new people, places, and smells.  We couldn’t have shown off a better baby – I say this as I hear him crying a fit downstairs in the kitchen right now, but whatever…

A pair of quotes about kids for you:
“While we try to teach our children all about life, Our children teach us what life is all about.”
    ~Angela Schwindt

“Children are contemptuous, haughty, irritable, envious, sneaky, selfish, lazy, flighty, timid, liars and hypocrites, quick to laugh and cry, extreme in expressing joy and sorrow, especially about trifles, they’ll do anything to avoid pain but they enjoy inflicting it: little men already.”
~Jean de La Bruyère, Les Caractères, 1688

I won’t say I’m entirely in agreement with the latter one, but I do appreciate the sentiment.

Shakespeare has a quote sort of similar to the latter one, that I’m saving for just the right post 🙂
